Tips on How to Effectively Treat Corns

Corns are hard skin or thickening skin, which develop on the feet sole. They are caused by pressure, which is exerted on the sole. It should be noted that the growth of the thickening skin occurs as a natural way of protection of the body tissues. When pressure is put on the feet sole, the body begins to respond to this pressure and this is when the thickening begins to develop.

The most common causes of pressure on the foot are the shoes. For example, when you wear tight-fitting shoes, you create pressure on the foot. In areas where there are bony prominences, the hard skin development begins thus forming the Corns. A corn is painful when the pressure is exerted or when the development of the skin thickening occurs, you need to remove the pressure. You can change the shoe you are wearing. The application of the corn plasters, which have hydrocolloid substances, is perhaps one of the better ways of treating the corn development.

The hydrocolloid based plasters contain a special gel, which helps in minimizing the pain which occurs from the Corns. It also helps in removing the corn. The corn plasters cushion and softens the corn and this helps in getting rid of it. It should be noted that there are other types of corn developments, which are not necessarily related to pressure but they occur on the sole. These are called the Seed Corns. These should be differentiated from the other corn developments.
