According to a report by consultancy specializing in occupational health and environmental management, RiesgoLab Consulting Group, 72% of diseases identified during the last decade are for ear ailments, respiratory and musculoskeletal system.
The report was conducted over 100 private companies in different industries and found that the causative agents of occupational diseases are the most common noise (35%), the overhead of voice use (23%) and finally, awkward positions and repetitive gestures (14%).
The most common injuries in the workplace, which are exacerbated in those who could not even take a vacation – are: dizziness, vertigo and tinnitus (caused by noise or ringing in the ear), vocal fatigue (fonastenia) laringofonía, aphonic , dysphonic (which in some cases develop into nodules and polyps) due to abuse of the voice and injuries of the upper and lower back, such as epicondylitis (elbow), carpal tunnel syndrome (hand-wrist) , trochanters (hip), knee pain (knee), cervical (neck), back pain (back) and sciatica (sciatica), among others.
According to the report, 46% of these diseases are declared in the first year of work, but only 23% detection occurs in less than a year. Another finding revealed that among the Public Hospital Social Work and detected 43% of occupational diseases, while the ART detect 14 and only 8% were discovered by carrying out periodic reviews of these insurers.
