Cancer hazard to children
In Argentina, 65% of children with cancer is cured, a figure that could rise to 80%, if reached early diagnosis, proper treatment and care of the patient. It did so again the National Cancer Institute (NCI), under the Ministry of Health of the Nation, the International Day of the Fight against Childhood Cancer.
Although Pediatrics is not a common disease, makes a big impact on the physical, social and emotional patients and their families. Therefore, among other goals, the overall objective of the INC is to improve, strengthen and ensure a more equitable and quality in pediatric oncology in Argentina.
In this context, the Minister of Health of Argentina, Juan Manure, said having a school that “is working to ensure every child a more equitable and quality in all jurisdictions of the national territory” and that is promoting “human resource training in pediatric oncology.”
Manure also said “a subject as sensitive as childhood cancer, requires the joint efforts with the participation of all stakeholders”, while calling on doctors and health personnel to “sensitize the symptoms “that have the disease in boys,” to detect early and treat it properly.”
Early diagnosis helps to reduce child mortality as the INC recommended to contact those people (nurses, general practitioners, pediatricians, residents, and health workers) become familiar with common nonspecific signs and symptoms that, properly evaluated, enable early diagnosis of pediatric tumors.
